Art Initiative

Haerenga translates as journey in te reo Māori. The Haerenga Collection is an exploration of a vital area of the visual arts of Aotearoa New Zealand and is unique amongst corporate art collections. In recent years a new generation of female artists has come to the fore in Aotearoa, particularly in the abstract painting space. This is the primary focus of The Haerenga Collection.

Since 2019 Capital Group, in conjunction with curator Hamish Coney, has explored the mahi toi of our female artists, building a collection that is directional and which reflects the creativity of our ringatoi wāhine and their haerenga. As the journey continues the collection will grow to reflect the diversity of contemporary painting in Aotearoa.
